New Zealand Grazing Company has been operating since 1987 and is the most experienced heifer growing business in the country, with worldwide recognition and systems it has designed installed overseas. To date it has managed over 300,000 heifers and, with over 2 million weighings on its database, has co-operated in a number of joint research projects looking at heifer growth and reproduction.
Field Service Managers and their support staff are located in most of the main dairying regions. Weights and animal details are transmitted electronically to the central office in New Plymouth for processing using specially-designed software, which also tracks animal movements and generates all the financial accounts and mating requirements automatically.
At New Zealand Grazing Company we recognise that your replacement livestock are your most valuable asset for the future production. In fact, we were the first Company in the world to specialise in dairy heifer grazing. We share a common philosophy with Sir Truby King, the founder of Plunket in New Zealand, who, looking to the future of our country’s children over 100 years ago, contended “feed them well, attend to their needs, monitor their progress regularly and the end result will be a long, healthy productive life.”
In carrying out this philosophy, we are committed to the development and protection of your asset by putting in place systems that will ensure your heifers are returned to you in the very best condition, and at optimum size - Guaranteed. Heifers in excellent health, that will produce profitably for many years.
- We are committed to providing quality service by ensuring that all of our staff are highly skilled and trained to look after your asset.
- We are committed to excellence in management, with well qualified people in all stratas of the Company, and to obtaining the very best advice from industry-recognised consultants.
- We are committed to innovation and on-going research which ensures that we adopt the very latest grazing techniques to ensure all heifers in our care can reach their maximum potential.
With recent research pointing to direct relationships between weight at the time of first calving and subsequent production, the employment of a specialist professional grazing company which offers guaranteed results represents a very sound investment for farmers.
But this investment starts before we receive your weaners, and we encourage farmers to do them well, particularly in the vitally important first 12 weeks, as this will assist us in continuing the growing process.
We think of it as teamwork. When you choose the New Zealand Grazing Company, you can be assured that your valuable heifers will be individually cared for, using the most advanced grazing systems offered anywhere in the world.
